The series first released in 2020 was such a success that Fender has decided to reissue it with the new 2021 Squier Paranormal Series. This line combines long-forgotten Fender electric guitar models, and variations and modifications that make them unique and perfect for the modern guitarist.

The new Squier Paranormal line includes innovative models such as Toronado, Cyclone, Super-Sonic and Cabronita with modern finishes. They also offer unique guitars, with specifications out of the ordinary, hence the name of Paranormal, which you will not find in any other line.

This new series is great news for anyone looking for a Baritone Cabronita Telecaster. This model had started selling for over $ 1,000 on the second-hand market following its end of production. The range also features an Offset Telecaster and a vintage-style Jazz Bass setup.

2021 Paranormal Series Specifications

All these new models have poplar bodies and have two finish options, except for the Tele Offset, which has three. The maple necks feature a C-profile with a gloss finish. You can find two types of bridge, fixed hardtail bridges with a string pass through the body, that is, through-body and Stratocaster tremolos.

Undoubtedly one of the favorites is the Telecaster Offset, a cult guitar among alternative rockers. This Squier Offset Telecaster combines Tele specs with the Jazzmaster body shape. Thus, it delivers the unique and classic tone of a Tele with the comfort of a Jazzmaster body. This cheap version of Squier features Fender-designed Alnico singlecoil pickups. Also, it features the traditional Telecaster rigid through-body bridge, which runs through the body and a slim C-shaped neck with a gloss finish.

The Fender Toronado was first released in 1998 and paired a more robust offset shape with a pair of humbucker pickups. This new Squier version features a slim, gloss-finished C-shaped neck with a 24.75 ”scale length, similar to a Gibson. Plus, it has a hardtail bridge and individual volume and tone controls for its pair of high-performance Atomic humbuckers.

The Super-Sonic reverse-offset was first released in 1997 by Squier. This new version features two Atomic humbucker pickups. The neck features a C-shaped profile, a narrow 1.5” nut width and a vintage-style Stratocaster tremolo. Finally, the headstock is inverted 70’s style.

The Cyclone also dates back to 1997 as the Reverse Super-Sonic, with a Mustang-inspired shape but with a little extra body mass. Squier’s Paranormal version features a vintage-style Stratocaster tremolo. The controls are like a Jaguar. The pickups are three Fender designed singlecoils. Like the Toronado, it features a 24.75 ”long scale and a slim neck with a C-shaped profile.

The 2012 Cabronita Telecaster returns with a similar semi-hollow design, but a set of Alnico Jazzmaster-style single coil pickups. It has a Stratocaster-type Hardtail bridge, also used by Telecaster models from the 70’s. The body, like the rest of the models, is made of poplar and the neck is made of C-shaped maple with a glossy finish.

A big hit from the original version is this Baritone Cabronita which features a scale length of 27 ”. The P90 single coil pickups are from Alnico. It also has a solid poplar body, gloss finish maple neck and C-profile.

This Jazz Bass is an original and modern version of the classic ’54 model. The Squier Paranormal Jazz Bass ’54 combines Fender-designed Jazz Bass pickups with the design of a 1954 Precision Bass. Features a C-shaped neck profile. Narrow 1.5” nut width, vintage-style bridge and tuners, concentric tone and volume controls, and a 1950s-style pickguard.

Launch of the new Paranormal Series

The new guitars and basses will be available from October 2021, and it’s worth noting that each has seen a modest price increase over the original series.
